ELLUMEN CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER INVITED TO PRESENT AT ANNUAL HIMSS CONFERENCE
Dennis M. Seymour Presenting on Mobile and Medical Device Security at Industry Conference; Joining HIMSS Invitation-Only Privacy & Security Committee
ARLINGTON, VA - February 16, 2012 - Ellumen, a leading provider of health IT services and expert solutions, today announced the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has invited its senior security architect Dennis M. Seymour, CISSP, PMP to join its Privacy and Security Committee. HIMSS is tapping Seymour for his more than 15 years experience in healthcare security, 12 years of which were spent at the enterprise level for the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Seymour has also been invited to serve on the HIMSS Mobile Device Security Work Group, the Medical Device Security Task Force and the Risk Assessment Work Group. Seymour will contribute to the strategic direction related to health information exchange security and privacy issues for HIMSS members, including commercial, federal, state and local healthcare and non-profit organizations.
Seymour is fluent in policy development and compliance with HIPAA, NIST, FISMA and other industry standards. He has also served on the HIMSS Medical Device Security Task Force and the URAC Accreditation Committee for HIPAA Privacy & Security. He’s managed in excess of $16 million annually and in total a $36 million contract for the VA.
This is the latest in a string of industry recognition for Seymour. He recently was named a finalist in the (ISC)2 U.S. Government Information Security Leadership Awards. Seymour is also frequently called on to speak as an industry expert at influential security and healthcare events on mobile device security in healthcare, such as the DHS-DoD sponsored Software Assurance Forum, the (ISC)2 Security Congress and URAC’s Quality Summit.
