Ellumen’s science team is excited to be contributing two papers to the 2017 IEEE AP-S Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting to be held July 9-15, 2017, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, CA. The symposium and meeting are cosponsored by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) and the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI). The meeting is expected to be a premier international forum on state-of-the-art research in antennas, propagation, electromagnetic engineering, and radio science. Ellumen senior scientists Dr. Arezou Edalati, Ph.D and Dr. Wenyi Shao, Ph.D will present the team’s recent work.
Dr. Shao will present the paper entitled “Experimental Microwave Near-field Detection with Moveable Antennas” by Wenyi Shao, Arezou Edalati, Todd R. McCollough, and William J. McCollough. The paper describes a microwave detection system and presents images created by the system. Microwave offers a non-destructive imaging method with applications for biomedical examinations and accelerated cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Edalati will present the paper entitled “A Novel Dual-Band Beam-Switching Antenna Based on Active Frequency Selective Surfaces” by Arezou Edalati and William McCollough. The paper describes an antenna that can be used in modern wireless communication systems. The antenna can operate in two frequency bands simultaneously, both a lower frequency band and a higher frequency band.
